QUOTE MONKEY! is a Windows based program. If you are unfamiliar with Windows, please refer to your Windows tutorial or users guide.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Click on settings and then select Internet/Modem. Then choose your connection type (Already Connected, My ISP, or Primate Dial-up). Please choose the Already Connected option as the Primate Dial Up has been temporarily disabled.

Enter your personal password in the password field. Click OK.

USING THE QUOTE MONKEY! MENUS

At the top of the QUOTE MONKEY! window you will see several menus; PORTFOLIO, SYMBOL, DATA, MAIL, SETTINGS and HELP.

THE PORTFOLIO MENU

Click on PORTFOLIO and you will see these choices; CREATE, DELETE, IGNORE and EXIT.

To CREATE a portfolio:

Click on CREATE "CREATE PORTFOLIO" window appears.   Choose from the list the file format you wish to store the data in.

Metastock format - If you are using your own program like Metastock, SuperCharts, and OmniTrader chose this format.

Primate format - Only compatible with Primate Software programs. This format includes Bid and Ask.

ASCII format -    Sold separately and allows you to view data in Excel, text editors, and any program that can import ASCII. (three formats available: ascii.txt, ascii.csv, ascii.fixed field)

Click OK. "SELECT DIRECTORY" window appears. Click in the Directory Field and type in the name of the directory or portfolio you wish to create. ( Keep it simple! Sub-directories can be hard to find. If you are not familiar with where to put your data files, chose something like C:\stocks )

Click on OK. Your new portfolio is created. You should see it listed.

To DELETE a portfolio:

This is essentially the opposite of create. Choose the portfolio you wish to delete under the Portfolios section, by highlighting it.

Click on DELETE. The "DELETE PORTFOLIO" window appears and asks you if this correct.

Click Yes if this is correct, or NO if it is not. (NOTE: once deleted, portfolios are gone forever!)

To IGNORE a portfolio:

Ignore allows you to select which portfolios to exclude from downloading. Ignored portfolios have two brackets in front of and behind the portfolio name & are in RED. Quote Monkey! will scan the portfolio before a download, it just won't update it.

Chose the portfolio you wish to Ignore under the Portfolios section, by highlighting it.

Click on Ignore. To UN-ignore use the same procedure.

To EXIT QUOTE MONKEY!

Click on PORTFOLIO then,

Click on EXIT. You will exit to Windows

The SYMBOL Menu

Click on SYMBOL and you see these choices; ADD, EDIT, DELETE and FIND.

To ADD a Symbol:

Click on ADD to add a symbol to a portfolio.  The "ADD SYMBOL" window will appear. Type the symbol into the symbol box.

Click on the Name field or press TAB.  Type the name of the security, up to 11 characters. Select the number of years of data you wish to download.

Click OK to add that symbol or just press enter.

To Edit a Symbol:

Click on EDIT. The "EDIT SYMBOL" window appears with the symbol chosen. Edit or change the symbol, name or # of years of data.*

Click OK, or press cancel to end the procedure.

*NOTE: If you choose a number of years LESS than what you currently have, you will get a warning. If you choose to continue, you will lose that data from your harddrive, permanently.
 

To DELETE a symbol:

Highlight the symbol to be deleted

Click on DELETE. The "DELETE" window appears.

Click YES* or NO.

*NOTE: Deleting a symbol removes it along with its data from the hard drive permanently. In order to bring it back you must re-add the symbol and download again.

To Find A Symbol:

Click On Symbol, then FIND. Type in the symbol you wish to find then Click OK.

THE DATA MENU

Click on DATA and you will see these Menus: RETRIEVE, EDIT, SPLIT, DISBURSEMENT, and ADJUST

To RETRIEVE data:

IMPORTANT! QUOTE MONKEY! will update ALL Metastock files on your harddrive. If you have ANY files in Metastock format that you do not want updated please ignore them (see Portfolio/Ignore) or remove them before downloading. If QM shows them , QM can update them.

HINT: Check for sample files given to you by all charting software programs you have ever tried!

Click on RETRIEVE (Make sure your modem is configured correctly! To do this see SETTINGS below.) Data begins downloading automatically.
 

To DELETE data:

The delete function can only delete data from a date you select forward to present or backward to a date in the past. Chose the symbol you wish to delete data from.

Click on DELETE from the data menu. The "DELETE DATA" windows appears. Chose if you wish to delete data forward or backward from the selected date. Then click on OK.
 

To EDIT data*:

Highlight the date of the quote to be edited.

Click on EDIT. The "EDIT QUOTES" window appears. You can click on the LEFT double arrows at the bottom to get to the last data point in the file or the RIGHT double arrows to get to the first data point in the file. The single arrows scroll through the data one data point at a time. Select the data you wish to edit and make the necessary changes.
 

To SPLIT Data:

Chose the symbol you wish to split. Scroll to the date of the split and highlight it.

Chose SPLIT from the Data Menu and select the split ratio (2 for 1, 3 for 2 etc.)

Click OK. The conversion is complete.

Example: If the split was for 2 for 1 and the price on the day before the split was 60 the day of the split was 30. Highlight the day it was 30. Then from the data menu chose split. For the ratio chose 2 "new" for each 1 "old" shares. Click OK to complete.

HINT: if you make a mistake, just reverse the process.
 

To Adjust for Disbursements:

Mutual Funds sometimes pay shareholders dividends, to adjust for this, use this feature.

Click on Disbursement.. Type the date of the Disbursement, and the amount.. Click OK.

Click On Adjust. Type in the date. Click OK.

To Make Other Adjustments:

Use this feature to make other bulk adjustments to your data. This can be useful if your old data does not match the QUOTE MONKEY! data by a certain number of decimal places. You can multiply by the numbers you chose for prices or volume.
 

To Print Data:

Select the symbol you wish to PRINT. Type in the date range. Click OK

THE MAIL MENU

Click on MAIL and you will see these choices COMPOSE A Message, ATTACH a File, EDIT Outgoing Mail, and VIEW Incoming Mail.

The E-mail feature allows you to send, receive or print mail to/from Primate.

Click on COMPOSE to write a message which will be sent on your next download.
You may chose which department to send your mail to, then click OK.  (ATTACH a file is only to be used when requested by technical support)

Click EDIT Outgoing Mail to edit or delete mail that has not been sent.

Click on VIEW Incoming Mail to read mail that has been sent to you.

Click on REPLY to answer a message that was sent to you.

EXTRACTS is only to be used when requested by technical support.

THE SETTINGS MENU

Click on SETTINGS to change the Internet/Modem settings.

To select DRIVES:

Click on DRIVES to select or deselect drives to be scanned for downloading. QUOTE MONKEY! automatically searches for Metastock files only on your C: drive.To select another drive, click on the button containing the letter of the drive you want to include in the search. Drive is selected when the button appears to be pressed in or is a lighter color.
